President Obama’s Executive Order may benefit up to 5 million immigrants.

We have the pleasure of informing you of some great news! On November 20, 2014, President Barack Obama announced an executive order that may benefit up to 5 million immigrants that may include you and your friends, family and loved ones. Here at Bankston Immigration, we want to keep you, as our client, as informed as we can in order to better serve you as well as those you know who may potentially qualify under this new executive order. The following is important information regarding the President’s announcement:

There have been two major changes to deferred action:

  • DACA Expansion
  • Must have arrived before the age of 16
  • Must have arrived before January 1, 2010 and been continuously present in the country since then
  • Must have graduated from high school, earned a GED, or currently in a GED program
  • * New: There is no longer an upper age limit
  • Note the following:
    • If you have any criminal incidents, please seek an attorney
    • Expanded eligibility should be rolled out in 90 days
    • Cost will be $465.00 (in government fees)
  • DAPA (Deferred Action for Parental Accountability)
  • Must have arrived before January 1, 2010 and been continuously present in the country since then
  • Must have a USC (United States Citizen) or LPR (Lawful Permanent Resident) child born on or before November 20, 2014
  • Note the following:
    • If you have any criminal incidents, please seek an attorney
    • Should be rolled out in 180 days
    • Cost will be $465.00 (in government fees)
    • *There is currently no deadline by when applicants need to apply to be considered
    • *Note that USCIS expects applicants will need to wait about a year for approval due to the large load of applicants

With this news in mind, we want to inform our clients that Bankston Immigration is ready to start helping you and your loved ones who may qualify to benefit from this new executive order. We will begin making appointments for individuals who want to know if they qualify and who are ready to apply as soon as possible. Although there are no forms available yet to apply for the new DACA expansion or DAPA, our office will begin gathering the supporting documents that we know will probably be required and start working on the application forms as soon as they become available. For those that may have criminal histories, please keep in mind that we will require you to get a background check as well as have you provide us with certified court records pertaining to your criminal incident(s).
